Costume Accessories for Halloween

Halloween is coming are you ready??Whenever some one says Halloween the first though that pops into your head is "What costume shall I wear?" But the costume on its own is just the starting point. If you really want to make a hit this Halloween you need to consider all the Halloween elements. Are you going out or staying at home? If you are staying at home what sort of halloween animatronics and props will you be using to scare the neighbourhood trick or treaters?

There are a number of machines you can use to create fog and other Hallloween Effects leading up to your door. I am a sucker for Halloween Animated Props in my opinion there is nothing like a zombie crawling out of the ground to set the tone for the night. You should also have some Halloween Lights these will set the mood with a suitable spooky message. Whatever you do on Halloween don't mess around with your best crockery why not just go with a Halloween Party Kit that will set every one in the mood.

Halloween would not be Halloween without Blood, Gore, Fangs and Masks. Using blood at Halloween is almost mandatory, fake blood comes in a number of varieties - you can get Blood capsules some times these are runny liquid and the colour is not so realistic. I prefer Gel blood is a thick consistency and quite realistic. If you are painting the town red then you need a lot of Fake blood and this is probably best be made from home made recipes, mainly found on the internet. You could always go for the "Inked" look to show you are one tough dude. One way of getting the the look of ink without the cost and pain is a tempoaray Halloween tattoo or a tattoo sleeve. These tattoo sleeves are a great way to complete any tough guy or biker costume this Halloween! It goes on in a flash and all you need to do to hide the join at the end is wear a wide studdedleather bracelet.

Halloween masks have come a long way especially the full face latex mask, this is a great accessory and will add that extra something to your costume. One of the reasons the Halloween mask is so popular is that it can completely hide who you really are underneath. If you want to create a costume with out too much trouble all you need are a pair of Spock Ears and polo neck jumper and you are ready "to boldly go where no man has gone before.". If you are in a slight panic about the costume you could just get Lion ears and tail and magically you are the lion from Wizard of Oz or a pair of big green ears and everyone will recognise you are the loveable Shrek. Depending on your character this Halloween your shoes and boots will make or break your Costume - Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz without Red Slippers. Going as a disco girl will definitely need GoGo boots, going as Cleopatra maybe some 6 inch heels? If you are doing a lot of walking on the trick or treat beat then I suggest designing your outfit from the feet up especially if you are going to end up carrying your 4 year old then a set of pirate boot covers over your comfortable trainers will save your feet.

The main thing about Halloween is going in disguise, its one of the few nights where you can disguise you identity and be somebody else. Here are some tips on choosing your disguise -

1. It must suit your personality or you will spend the evening feeling ill at ease.
2. Choose something that fits comfortable. Tugging and pulling at your disguise throughout the evening will interfere with having a good time.
3. Where will you be wearing your disguise, Patricia the Stripper wont be welcome if there are children

Most men can always wear a Halloween Beard and Moustache Sets these come in a range of options and provide a range of costumes a long grey beard - suddenly you are Merlin or Dumbledore. A long black beard makes you a biker, a hippy or a hillbilly. A short beard and you are a classic Pennsylvania Dutch or Mennonite farmer costume when you wear it with a dark shirt, black hat and glasses. Or the "Charmer" when you're lost in your deep, profound thoughts stroking your beard and moustache.

Halloween with out a wig is almost Thanksgiving without Turkey. When buying a halloween wig you need to consider a number of points - Does it fit, a wig that doesn't fit will drive you crazy. Is the color right - a 60's rocker with a grey wig just doesn't work. Are you going to be wearing it again? If so make certain its sturdy. While clothes don't make the man, but the costume wigs definitely make the Halloween costume so it might be worth spending that little extra.

Sometimes Halloween Eyewear and Glasses can be a complete costume in themselves. If you have a specific character in mind then the finishing touch will be a pair of designer eyeglasses? Some characters that spring to mind that are identified by their spectacles include the famous Theodore Roosevelt. Or there is our favorite mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent. Both instantly recognised by their glasses. there is a whole slew of other characters that you might need glasses for but the trick is to get the eyewear with out paying too much as you will probably only be wearing them once.

Often Halloween make-up can make or break a costume. Here are some Halloween Make Up tips to ensure you have a great time. Ensure you are not allergic to the make up by testing it on a small area of skin a few days before Halloween, you don't want to spend the evening in a rash. Once you checked the make up now its time to apply it. The first step is to prepare your skin for applying make up. You should clean your face with soap, or your usual face wash. Now apply a small amount of petroleum jelly to your face. Close the pores of skin by washing with chilled water. Not only will it protect your skin but its a great trick to remove the makeup easily afterwards. Now apply the foundation after that add any additional touches such as cuts, scrapes or wounds.
